Commissioner Shannon Martin began serving on January 1, 2025. Martin retired as Interim Fire Chief of the Victoria Fire Department and brings over 35 years of public service experience to the role. Deeply rooted in the community, Martin rose through the ranks of the department to senior leadership, managing multi-million-dollar budgets, complex operations, and a team of over 100 personnel.
Known for his strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and commitment to the community, Commissioner Martin has been involved in local organizations, including the Local Emergency Planning Commission, the Victoria Livestock Show, and the Victoria Area Go Texan Scholarship Committee. His leadership during major events such as the 1998 flood, earned him the Victoria Rotary Club’s Outstanding Service Award.
Martin graduated from Stroman High School, the Texas Fire Chiefs Academy, and Texas A&M’s Fire Service CEO Program. Commissioner Martin now applies his decades of experience to ensure Precinct 3 residents have responsive, efficient, and transparent representation. He and his wife, Michelle, have been married for over 35 years, with three children and six grandchildren, and are active members of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
