The Texas Healthy Communities (TXHC) Program promotes public health practices proven to reduce risk factors for chronic diseases by helping communities assess their existing environments. Assessments aid communities in implementing environmental, policy, or system changes at the local level using nine community-based policy, systems, and environmental change indicators. The program is offered at no cost to communities that choose to participate to improve where their citizens live, work, and play.
